Eosinophils as markers for treatment
5. Data on File, REF-51332, AZPLP. 6. Rothenberg ME, Hogan SP. The eosinophil. 2016-09-28 Eosinophils are a type of white blood cell that play an important role in the body's response to allergic reactions, asthma, and infection with parasites. These cells have a role in the protective immunity against certain parasites but also contribute to the inflammation that occurs in allergic disorders. Eosinophils are one of five types of WBCs found in the human body; all are produced by the bone marrow.

2020-04-06 Eosinophilia is said to occur when there are greater than 500 eosinophils per microliter, though the exact cutoff varies by laboratory. Eosinophilia can be considered mild, moderate or severe. Usually, less than 5% of the circulating white blood cells in a person are eosinophils. Mild eosinophilia: 500 to 1,500 eosinophils/μl.

Normal eosinophil count is less than 500 cells per microliter (cells/mcL). Normal value ranges may vary slightly among different laboratories. Talk to your provider about the meaning of your specific test results. The example above shows the common measurements for results of these tests.

Eosinophils, normally account for less than 7% of the circulating white blood cells (100 to 500 eosinophils per microliter of blood). Eosinophils are believed to function in allergic responses, asthma, infection with parasites and in resisting some infections. A little more information is needed to answer this question: is the reported result a percentage (the differential), or the absolute eosinophil blood count? I'll try to answer both scenarios in general: 1. Eosinophils express a range of receptors, e.g. CCR3, the receptor for CCL11, which allow them to respond to a multitude of cytokines, chemokines and lipid mediators. Eosinophils are recruited from the blood into the tissues at sites of inflammation.
Eosinophils are one of five types of WBCs found in the human body; all are produced by the bone marrow. Eosinophils account for less than 7% of all circulating white blood cells and have two distinct functions: they destroy invading germs and create an inflammatory response, particularly if an allergy is involved. Eosinophils are short‐lived, bone marrow–derived granulocytes. Eosinophil differentiation is largely dependent on IL‐5, which is produced by Th2 cells and group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s). Although type 1, 2 and 3 inflammation may overlap and balancing real life (reviewed in ref. 8 ), type 2 inflammation is closely associated with eosinophilic inflammation.
